STAFFORDSHIRE AMERICAN VIEW / WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON PRESIDENTIAL TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC ARTICLES, LOT OF TWO, each having brown/sepia transfer featuring the "Columbian Star.", as printed to underside, comprising a 6 1/4" D plate depicting a figure plowing with horses, and a cup and saucer set featuring a charming cabin with figures. Each having additional brown-printed "Oct. 28th 1840. / Jn. Ridgway." John Ridgway, Hanley, England. Circa 1840. 2 3/8" HOA.

Catalogue Note: This pattern was created for the presidential campaign of William Henry Harrison. Harrison was born at Berkeley Plantation in Virginia, was the son of Benjamin Harrison, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and a governor of Virginia. Harrison, elected president in December 1840, died of pneumonia only one month after taking office on April 4, 1841.
