Description

DESCRIPTION: A french Emile Picault (1833-1915) "Le Devoir" bronze sculpture. This is a patinated bronze figurine of a roman soldier, draped in lion skin, evoking the skin of the Lion of Nemea worn by Heracles. Beneath his long sword is a fallen shield inscribed "Honor Patria" which translates to honor homeland. It is inscribed "E. Picault" and includes a frontal plaque on base that reads: "Le Devoir Par E. Picault".

CIRCA: Late 19th-Early 20th Century.
ORIGIN: France.
DIMENSIONS: H: 17 3/4" W: 8" D: 6".
