This painting by J. Hilton appears to be a 19th century exceptional copy of a 17th century painting by Michele Pace, known as Michaelangelo de Campidoglio. The painting was originally commissioned by Cardinal Flavio Chigi (1631-1693) in 1664. This particular painting, like the original, features a black and white greyhound standing in a landscape with mountains in the background. Aside from some minor changes from the the de Campidoglio piece, it is a remarkable copy of the 17th century painting. Framed measures 27" x 31", image size 20" x 23.5". This would be an excellent opportunity for the lucky winner to be able to own a very good antique copy of the original ~ which sold at auction only a couple years ago, for nearly $375,000.

The last image is the original from 1665 taken from the Wikimedia/Wikicommons where it was copied from the Sotheby's Old Masters auction in 2019. It shows you the pure talent of Mr. Hilton in his craft.
