29" x 37 1/2" sheet, on original rollers. 30" x 50" framed.
An excellent example of this scarce map of New England, stylishly engraved by little-known Vermont tradesman Moody Morse Peabody in January 1824.
Little is known about Edward Ruggles besides he was one of a small group of talented local "Green Mountain" cartographic artisans who worked in Vermont during the early first half of the 19th century. An American eagle sits above the title cartouche, with the crests and mottos of the three states are below.
