Description

DESCRIPTION: Framed alphabet sampler with floral decorations. Late 18th century. Signed "Hester Alexander her work done in the 10th year of her age." Per consignor Hester Alexander was the sister of John Alexander, who later married Mary Rittenhouse. PROVENANCE: From a Philadelphia family. The consignor is a direct descendant of Mary Rittenhouse (1795-1873). MEASUREMENTS: 21" long x 7-1/8" wide. Overall with frame 23" high x 9" wide. CONDITION: Discoloration from age and display. Small scuff to frame. IMPORTANT: Before bidding, please read the terms and conditions. When you registered for the auction you agreed to these terms and will be required to comply with them.
