1862 Grand Amateur Concert Event Program. Framed and matted Grand Vocal and Instrumental Amateur Concert event program at City Hall on March 4, 1862, in which the collected proceeds will go to the Ladies’ Soldiers’ Aid Society of Springfield. Size: 22.25 inches X 11.25 inches.Cond: crease lines noted, handling and micro-tears at edges, bottom left corner missing, .25 inch gouge, corner wear on the frame. Ladies' aid societies or soldiers' aid societies were organizations of women formed during the American Civil War that were dedicated to providing supplies to soldiers on the battlefield and caring for sick and wounded soldiers.
