Description
Five reserves showing objects on the "Hundred Antiques" theme, against a ground of turquoise and white lotus scrolls on cobalt blue, the rim with pink, yellow and turquoise cloud border. The underside with foliate sprays in dry red enamel. Unglazed foot. Unmarked. Minor surface wear, no chips, cracks or repairs. Approx. 15" diameter. Provenance: purchased in 1989 from a man who was on the Beijing diplomatic staff, who said that the charger was formerly displayed in a museum. The base is marked in ink: "Tao-Kuang, 1821-1850 A.D." Note with details on provenance is taped to back of charger.
