Description
Himilayan Buddhist Headdress (Possibly Yao), Early 20th C. Headpiece of five crenelated embroidered elements forming a headpiece for ritual wear. Each made of a stiff foundation of paper board, covered with tabby cotton cloth, and embroidered in silk satin stitch, the pattern elements edged with couching. Tabby cotton cloth, paper, silk thread, leather; embroidery. Size: 8'' x 21'', (20 x 53 cm). Provenance: Ex. Roger Hollander collection.
