Rare Miao Festival Robe, China, Mid 20th C. Miao, Full-length robe of tabby un-dyed cotton cloth with open sides and front. Wide, heavy kimono-like sleeves with supplementary weft inlay in red and black wool. Large appliqued cloth elements of indigo wax-resist dyed tabby cotton cloth outlined in red cotton. Miao People, Northeastern Yunnan Province, Zhaotong County, China. Size: 59'' x 78'' (150 x 198 cm). Provenance: Ex. Roger Hollander collection.
