Description

EXCEPTIONAL JAPANESE BRONZE GROUP, MEIJI PERIOD. Comprising an exceptionally well crafted and highly detailed bronze group depicting two oni wearing animal skin loin cloths in sentoku with engraved details and holding a glass sphere aloft on three hands between them. One demon of shakudo, the other patinated a copper color and each with separately crafted wrist and ankle bangles. Apparently unsigned. Overall height, including sphere, 7.25 inches (18.4 cm).

Condition

Overall good condition. No dents, restorations or repairs. The surface appears to be original and untouched. The area where figures are joined is slightly loose and the crystal ball may be later and exhibits a ground pontil mark. Additionally, there is a good amount of dirt and grime buildup in the crevices of each figure.
