Description
(1785 – 1862) French general and statesman who participated in the Napoleonic Wars on the Russian side before returning to France after Napoleon's exile. Upon his return to France, he continued his military career and entered into politics, eventually becoming the Minister of War and the Minister of Foreign Affairs under the Capetian kings. Pair of signed items, includes and A.L.S. 1p.8vo., Paris, Mar. 7, 1822 to an unnamed general asking that his young children be afforded protection while en route to Marseille. Damp stained. Sold with a manuscript L.S. as Minister of War, 1p. large 4to., May 5, 1824, discusses the purchase of grain for the use of the military. Very good. Two pieces.
