Description
Edward Maynard Second Model Saddle Ring Carbine. Serial no. 17636 [lower tang], .50 caliber, 20-inch two-stage barrel with fixed front sight and folding rear sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. Lever action barrel release. Saddle ring. Left side of receiver marked: EDWARD MAYNARD / PATENTEE / MAY 27, 1851 / DEC. 6, 1859. Right side marked with Mass Arms co. address. Smooth walnut half stock, two faint cartouches to left side of stock. Crescent metal buttplate. Condition: Very good. Retaining traces of finish, the balance a smooth grey patina with scattered signs of age, handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Noticeable scuffs and dings present to wood. Action good. Lightly pitted bore.
