Nature Libary ANIMALS selected from life histories of Northern Animals by Ernest Thompson Seton with paragraphs on classification from Stone & Crams American Animals. 1926 Doubleday Page, 299pp, 48 full page color illustrations by McGinn. Seton was one of the first authors of nature narratives, in which mostly wild animals played the main roles, which he largely observed in their natural environment. The best-known of his works are Wild Animals I Have Known (German title: Bingo und andere Tiergeschichten),published in 1898 (german most recently in 1985), and Animal Heroes (German title: Tierhelden), published in 1906. Seton illustrated his works with many of his own drawings after nature; some of his works contain up to 200 such drawings. Condition
Thick heavy black cloth binding with gold decoration and title that is mostly rubbed off. Pages are bright and clean. Color illustrations bright and vivid. Hinges strong. Gilt Top Edge still bright. Cover edges have mild wear in a few small areas nothing gross.
