Description
Egyptian, Late Period, 26th Dynasty 624-525 B.C..Copper alloy, wooden core. H. 17.7 cm. L. 10 cmStatuette of Nut (?), the goddess of the sky with sun disk on her head and Maat feather in her left hand. She represented standing, her arms are stretched forward and are provided with large wings that protectively embrace the adorant standing in front of her. The goddess stands on a pedestal with a fluting, which in turn stands on a rectangular base together with the adorant, who has one arm in adoring position. The latter is bald and wears a short skirt. The fine engraved details of the figure, such as on the wings, are covered by a thick layer of cuprite. Intact and complete, surface uncleaned and covered with a thick layer of cuprite.Collection Carl Leonhard Burckhardt (1902-1965).
