Autograph Letter Signed, for himself and partner William Reznor. 1 pg. + stampless address leaf. To Ohio State Printer and British-born newspaper publisher John Bailache,

Responding to an ad in Bailache's Ohio State Journal, offering an Impirial Press and a large quantity of news-type for sale. Bronson and Reznor wished to buy the press and 50 pounds of small Pica type, apparently to be used for a small newspaper they had bought in Mt. Vernon. Sixteen years later, Bronson inspired Poe to the elocution piece.

Cotesworth Pinckney Bronson was born in Connecticut, attended Middlebury College, then moved to Norwalk, Ohio, where he headed a newly opened Academy and was ordained as an Episcopalian minister before joining Reznor in publishing a short-lived newspaper. After selling the paper, Bronson became a successful writer and lecturer on elocution, befriending a large group of East coast literati, including Edgar Allan Poe.
