Description
Oil on masonite. Signed lower right. Village scene. Dimensions: H 48" x W 35.5" Condition: Some small paint losses and scratches. Andre Futa was well-educated, left professional school in 1946, and learned painting through a correspondence course in Kinshasa. He exhibited in 1958 when he participated in a competition of African art and won third price. The Secretary of Culture in Zaire nominated Futa for best painter in 1964. In 1965, he won the UNESCO Award in Monte Carlo.
Condition
All the items in this auction remain at our Annex Gallery location in Bridgeport, CT for pickup. Items must be picked up in the time frame of Tuesday December 14th through Thursday, December 23rd, 9am-5pm, WEEKDAYS. We will be closed Friday December 24th.
