A fine map of the Picardy region of France that appeared in Jaillot's "Nouvelle introduction a le geographie...." Embellished with a beautifully engraved title and scale cartouche. Cartographically this map is based on the work of Nicholas Sanson.

Alexis-Hubert Jaillot was a French cartographer and map publisher from the 17th century. He inherited a map publication firm from his father in-law and when Nicolas Sanson, one of France's premier cartographers, died, Jaillot worked out a deal with his heirs to re-publish his work. Many of the plates were re-engraved in a larger format and contained modern updates.

Condition: Good condition save for some faint offset. Original outline coloring.
