Ronau William Woiceske was a largely self-taught artist from Bloomington, Illinois. He took some formal art classes at the St. Louis School of Fine Arts while working at the Jacoby Art Glass Co., making stained glass windows for churches, in his early twenties. At the age of 24, Woiceske moved to Woodstock, where he studied under painters Birge Harrison and John Carlson. At some point, he picked up printmaking - etching, drypoint and aquatint - and became nationally recognized for his winter landscapes. His first one-man show was held in 1932.

During the Great Depression, Woiceske worked for the WPA. He was a member of the Philadelphia Print Club and the National Association of Etchers. He passed away at his Woodstock home on July 21, 1953.
