An original 1950 silver gelatin photograph 'Welsh Mining Story' by W. Eugene Smith (American, 1918-1978) depicting three generations of Welsh coal miners posed in a photo for Life Magazine. Stamped on verso 'This Photograph was in the Private Collection of W. Eugene Smith at the time of his death October 15th, 1978'. Presented in silver frame. Sight: 6.75" x 8.25"
Condition
Good condition. From the estate of Marty Forscher. Marty Forscher was a renowned camera repair and custom feature designer in NYC. He started at 7 years old working at a camera repair shop. He repaired cameras for wartime reporters during WWII, he invented many features that would later become standard features on high end cameras, in example he created the time release mechanism used by the astronauts on the moon landing mission so that all 4 astronauts could be in the picture. He owned "Professional Camera Repair" and worked with many of the most renowned photographers and this was given in appreciation of the work he did for the photographer.
