Description
"Pennsylvania Beautiful" by Wallace Nutting, illustrated by the author with drawings and photographs covering all the counties in Connecticut, published in Cooperation with Old America Company by the Garden City Publishing Company, Inc., Garden City, NY, 1935.
Hard boards, original bright brown cloth, front board and spine decorated with black, gilt lettering and decorations on spine [slightly discolored spine]; large: 7" x 10.1/4"; 296 pages including photo plates on heavy parchment-color paper, over 100 illustrations. Pages next to the plates, including the title page, are more or less stained [see photos]; very good condition.
Wallace Nutting (1861-1941) was a U.S. minister, photographer, artist, and antiquarian, who is most famous for his landscape photos of New England. He also was an accomplished author, lecturer, furniture maker, antiques expert and collector. His atmospheric photographs helped spur the Colonial Revival style.
