Description
Art Deco vase by VERRERIES SCHNEIDER; France, ca. 1915.Glass with inclusions. With mark "Schneider".Measurements: 50 x 15 cm.Vase of stylized profile, with flared tank and large high and narrow neck, which opens slightly towards the mouth and at its junction with the base. Made of colorless glass, with inclusions of bluish and white glass, of great delicacy. The artistic glass factory Verreries Schneider was founded by the brothers Ernest and Charles Schneider in Ăƒâ€°pinay-sur-Seine in 1913. The firm soon acquired great fame, and by 1925 had five hundred employees, and sold its pieces all over the world. However, the glass market was severely affected by the Great Depression of the 1930s, which led to the closure of the factory in 1938. Nevertheless, Schneider was the most important firm of art glass in Europe between 1920 and 1930. Most of his creations, style marked by the School of Nancy, are the work of Charles Schneider, who had trained with Daum as a glazier. His pieces were characterized by their unique shapes and new colors, including yellow, purple and "tango" orange. In addition, techniques such as the application of colored glass powders between two or more layers of glass (colorless or other colors) made it possible to obtain an infinite variety of colors. His production was divided into two main lines: Charder (contraction of Charles Schneider) and Le Verre FranĂƒÂ§ais.
