A fine and rare 14-inch diameter celestial globe Joseph Forest , overall the globe is in good condition with all of its decorative value preserved.
(4st quarter 19th century). This globe was published in the late 1800's, there are few example of celestial globe published by J.Forest .It was engraved by A.Soldan and printed by Monrocq , 2 names you find on map and globe during 1880's to 1920's.The map describe the discovery of the late 19th which was a time of rapid progress .The base is in the manner of the 1850's to the 1870's named " pied douche " bringing me to think it was part of Forest early production .In 1886, Forest founded his publishing house of maps and plans, mappemonde, globes, terrestrial and celestial spheres, paintings and wall maps for education at 17-19, rue de Buci in Paris and remains at 1, place du 13 October in Bagneux. Suppliers to schools since 1889, approved by the Ministry of Public Instruction, it also offered a lighter globe in its catalog. Unique and scarce piece .
