Description

George A. Custer Signed Envelope, as Addressed to his Wife, “Mrs Genl Custer”

CUSTER, GEORGE. 5.25” x 3” envelope hand addressed by Custer to his wife, “Mrs Genl Custer / Fort Leavenworth / Kansas”. Intact green 3-cent Washington stamp with hand cancel at top right corner and Washington, D.C. postmark.  Discoloration at the center, not affecting legibility of text, else very good plus condition.

Custer’s wife Libby (1842-1933) spent most of their marriage in relatively close proximity to him, despite his numerous military campaigns in the American Civil War, and subsequent postings on the Great Plains as a commanding officer in the United States Cavalry.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
