Description
1st item: Attributed to Hermann Ottomar Herzog (Pennsylvania/California/Germany, 1832-1932) graphite on paper maritime drawing titled "Delaware Gap" depicting a man sitting in a rowboat, moored beside another rowboat. Titled, in pencil, lower right. Typed label, en verso. Gilt placard with artist's name and dates, affixed lower center of frame. Housed and double matted under glass in a giltwood frame. Sight: 4" H x 6 1/4" W. Framed: 12 1/2" H x 14 3/4" W. 2nd item: Eugen Dragutescu (Romania/Italy, 1914-1993), pen and pastel on wax paper abstract drawing titled "May Day at Assisi" depicting a crowd of people celebrating the springtime festival of Caledimaggio, where the town honors their patron St. Francis and recognizes their Renaissance history by dressing up in medieval attire and parading in the town square. This scene reveals a crowd in front of the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo with the Basilica of Saint Frances on a hill in the distance, with pastels used to make colorful medieval flags. Signed "Dragutescu Caledimaggio, Assisi, 1962" lower right. Label en verso from Collectors Gallery, Nashville, TN with artist name and title. Housed in a basic frame with a mat under glass. Sight: 16 1/4" W x 13 1/2" H. Framed: 24 1/2" W x 21 1/2" H.

1st item: Overall good condition with 1/2" x 6 1/4" area of toning across top of sheet. Not examined outside of sheet. 2nd item: Some water damage, damp staining, and creasing to paper, especially in signed lower right corner and on the Palazzo tower.
