oil on canvas, signed at lower right, the stretcher retains a label for Illustrated Sunday Magazine, presented in a later frame.
Stretcher size 27 x 19 in.; Frame dimensions 32 1/2 x 24 1/2 in.
Charles Chase Emerson was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He studied art in various studios as well as receiving instruction on the lithographic process while living in Boston, Massachusetts. He began illustrating for books and magazines in 1890.
