He was a German writer and cultural historian who opposed the growing anti-Semitism in Germany and advocated equitable treatment for Jews. In this work, he challenges the "Radauantisemitismus" of the Deutsch-Nationalen-Volkspartei, of which he was a member at the time. The title translates to English as, “Antisemitism: An Impartial Examination of the Problem.
