Description
**First Time At Auction**
Native American, Southern United States, Mississippian / Caddo, ca. 900 to 1500 CE. A collection of 96 hand-knapped stone projectile points, each flaked into a distinctive notched or serrated type that includes Harrell, Haskell, Toyah, Cahokia, and Garza points. Garza is identifiable by the narrow triangular points with a basal notch. The Harrell points have triangular blades, lower notches creating two shoulders, and two ears that are also pointed. A petite notch is cut into the center of the base as well, giving the Harrell arrowheads a very distinct 3-pointed shape. The petite size of each projectile point is quite impressive. It would have taken immense patience and a gentle hand to knap the ears and blades without shattering the stone. All are displayed in a wood and glass display case. Size of points (most are relatively similar): 0.8" L x 0.5" W (2 cm x 1.3 cm); (case): 18.75" L x 12.85" W (47.6 cm x 32.6 cm)
Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
