Edy-Legrand was born in Bordeaux in 1892 and is known for his large figure and landscape paintings, also for his well-known posters of French steamboats and magazine illustrations. He is largely responsible for the renaissance of illustration art [in France] and was also a great book illustrator. His illustrations were used prominently in works published by the Limited Editions Club, e.g. Hamlet, Beauty & the Beast, Don Quixote, A Woman's Life, Travels in Arabia Deserta & The Three Musketeers amongst many.

Condition

Slight mat burn approx. Â¼" from image areas, 3 bear minuscule breaks in paper from the rear, some marginal tears & damage that do not affect images; very good to near fine.
