Eugene Meeks (New York,Italy, 1843 - 1916)
Eugene Meeks, artist, born in New York in 1843. He studied art in his native city, and then for five years at the Hague academy and under Van Lerius and De Keyser at Antwerp. Most of his professional life has been passed at Florence, Italy, and he is an associate of the Florence acdemy. Among his works are "Little Nell and her Grandfather," "Bridal Chamber in Palazzo ManziLucca," "Gondola. Party, Venice," "Startling Bit of Gossip" (1884), and "Halt at the Golden Lion."
