Art book attributed to Jean-Michel Basquiat, dated between 1980-81. There are a total of 82 sketches and drawings in the book and an additional 7 drawings & sketches on old composition paper. The mediums used are oil-sticks, wax sticks/crayons, ink and charcoal. Provenance: based on a letter in the book from David Williams, an art student at NYU in 1979, he met and became friends with Basquiat. In 1980 Basquiat left his art book in Williams' apartment. They shared a 'friendship' and a love of art. Williams died of Aids in the early 1990's. His lover inherited the book and when he passed away, it was given to the current owner who has had this in his possession for the past 20+ years. Measures 14.25"L x 11"W.
