Described as a "crowning design" for Taliesin Architects, the Focus house, designed by Taliesin Fellow William Wesley Peters, was the culmination of study and work within the Frank Lloyd Wright studio. Built within Taliesin Gates, a subdivision adjacent to Wright's Taliesin West, the house was originally conceived to be surrounded by homes exclusively designed from the Frank Lloyd Wright archive or Taliesin Architects. The Focus house was designed to illustrate the talents of the design studio. Though the subdivision was later sold and opened to all designs, the house remains a compelling expression of the architectural principles of Wright's fellowship.
