Chinese twelve-panel coromandel screen, carved and lacquered on one side with various birds in a garden of peony, prunus, rose, magnolia and rocks, the reverse decorated with military and civil officials in procession in a courtyard setting, 104.5"h. x 240"w. Provenance: Property from the estate of Patricia Moffat Pope, San Francisco, Ca. Patricia married George A. Pope Jr. in 1959 and together they built a Thoroughbred horse racing empire that included 27 stakes winners in the United States and in Europe. Among the many races that they won include the 1962 Kentucky Derby.
