Biography: Perhaps the most recognized name in the art for all times is the name of Salvador Dali. Salvador Dali was born in Spain in 1904. He left this earthly plane in 1989. Without a doubt, his was a life that no other has ever led. His star continues to blaze as brightly today as it ever did during his stunning career.
To say the least, Dali was certainly a controversial figure surrounded by a distinct aura of myth. He embraced Surrealism in the late 20's and defined this popular art form. In fact, he made the Surrealism Movement synonymous with the name of Salvador Dali. His dream state visions concentrated on eroticism and literary mysticism as viewed through the Surrealism looking glass.
Dali mastered all of the art forms on canvas and paper, as well as sculpture and the cinema. His painting "The Persistence of Memory", 1931(melting watches) is considered one of the greatest works of all time and certainly the greatest Surrealist image ever rendered.
