Description
Eisenberg Originals burgundy silk velvet long dress labeled with the earliest Eisenberg & Sons original label design, sleeves end in dramatic poufs, designed by Irma Kirby, 1930s. Shown on pages 10 and 11, figures 1.1-1.3 from "Eisenberg Originals, The Golden Years of Fashion Jewelry, and Fragrance, 1920s-1950s" by Sharon G. Schwartz. Eisenberg & Sons had started adding embellishments to dresses in the 1920s, and by the turn of the decade it was commonplace to see adornments ranging from beading and sequins to buckles and buttons, touches that would appeal to a wealthy clientele. Clothing historians note that Eisenberg's use of rhinestones was in line with fashion trends of the late 1920s. The collection presented in this auction follows Sharon Schwartz's book in consecutive lot order.
