Description
A cast iron mechanical bank with a bird feeding its young, manufactured by J. E. Stevens, patent date January 23, 1883. Excellent Condition. Place a coin in the bird's mouth, press the lever and the bird leans towards the nest, while the fledglings open their mouths and the coin is deposited. This piece is all original with its original paint, original glass eyes and is in great working condition. The chicks and the eagle function as they should. The paint has minor wear from handling with a fair amount of use where the coins were deposited. No visible rust. If the bellows are the 2 wood pieces with the spring between them it still has that inside but it isnt making a sound. Great display piece for the 19th century victorian era collector. It measures 6”H x 8.25”W x 4.5”D
