Description
Desirable 1607 copper plate engraving by Jodocus Hondius (1563-1612), showing a map of the American southeastern coast (St. Augustine to Chesapeake Bay). John Smith's written accounts of Virginia were not sent back to Europe until 1608, thus, much of what is shown here of the Chesapeake bears little resemblance to its actual geography.
