Description
Joseph Long Lehn (1798-1892), Elizabeth Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Probably a Sewing Chest, 1850-1880. The pine box of nailed construction, painted in burnt orange, the cover with decal of a crest, pseudo armorial and motto "REGNANT POPULI" (The People Rule), the front reserved with an oval city view and a landscape view with ruins, the back with an American eagle, and each side with the bust portrait of a lady, all within black, yellow, red and white panel borders. H: 3.625 in., W: 11 in., D: 6.875 in.
