Description
Aesthetic Movement Bronze Floor Lamp for a kerosene Lamp now electrified, with original hanging chains and hook for lighting tools (missing); the surface hand finished and chased after originals found in Pompeii and Herculaneum and re-interpreted in 19th century France possibly by Barbedienne. Height to top of original kerosene well 58 1/2 inches (148.5 cm.). Provenance: Estate of Anita O'Keeffe Young (sister of Georgia O'Keeffe), Sold Sotheby's New York, 10 October, 1985, the property of the Robert R. Young Foundation (her Railroad Magnate husband) Sale #5370; Sotheby's Sale # label 5370 affixed to base.
