Description
A pair of vintage German lidded beer steins. Includes a blue and white glazed ceramic beer stein with a pewter lid and handle, marked on the bottom: Made in West Germany and other incised marks; and a vintage GERZ Germany heavy relief lidded stein - Gute Waid. It features a pewter lid and handle. There are two sayings on the stein: Gute Waid; Jägers Freud - A good hunt is a huntsman's delight. Marked on the bottom. The present lot on auction form part of the Kuranda's family estate. The provenance of items can be tracked back to Felix Kuranda in XIX Century Austrian Empire, member of a well known family of bankers and politicians; directly related to the Karpeles, Wittelshofer, Milne And Lederer families. The most chronological recent lots are former belongings from USA veteran Major Thom Stellinger-Scott related through marriage with the Kuranda lineage. He was a veteran of Korean War as well as a reputed amateur photographer and artist. The Stellinger-Scott family resided for decades at Montauk Long Island NY.
