C. Collectibles and ephemera, including:

- A red silk triangular pennant embroidered with Korean characters and a red star seal, with yellow fringe, in remarkably good condition, 10.75" x 12.25."

- A badge or lapel pin possibly depicting Kim Il Sung or Chairman Mao Zedong, in profile facing left.

- A children's flasher souvenir, creating an illusion of depth and distance, depicting Mangyongdae, Kim Il Sung's childhood home.

- Russian language city map of Pyongyang, Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

- A black and white photograph of Kim Il Sung meeting a foreign leader, as well as what appears to be a ticket from 1976, were tucked into various books.

Kim Il Sung is considered the founder of North Korea. He oversaw governmental affairs for more than 45 years, first as Premier of North Korea between 1948-1972, and then as President of North Korea between 1972-1994. Kim Il Sung's legacy was assured through the rulership of his son Kim Jong Il and grandson Kim Jong Un. Kim Il Sung was declared the "eternal President of the Republic" in 1998.

Many of the printed materials in this lot explore the concept of "Juche," translated as "self-reliance." Propagated by Kim Il Sung, this idea translated into independence, strength, and self-determination in Korea's politics, the economy, and national defense. Though derived from Marxism and Leninism, "Juche" was distinct under Kim Il Sung. It symbolized Korean nationalism on its path towards achieving true socialism. A central part of "Juche" was Korea's resilience against Japanese and American imperialists before, during, and after the Fatherland Liberation War (aka Korean War).
