Having a hand written note from Mr Feller within the cap that reads: "The kaki cap was worn by many in the Pacific 1943-to today. Its was originally a baseball cap the players from the U.S.S. Alabama wore in their games during the Pacific campaign 1943-45". This style cap would have been worn by Mr. Feller himself during his time. it is unknown where or how Bob had acquired this cap, yet the relevance to his legacy speaks volumes through this item of the life he lived. Military baseball and a hand written note al from Robert William Andrew Fellers home!! Let that sink in! Bob was named 'The Greatest Pitcher' of his time for the Cleveland Indians and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1962. He played 18 seasons for the Indians, was an 8 time 'All Star' and ranked 36 out of 100 in the list of 100 of the Greatest Baseball Players in the 'Sporting News'.At the age of 23 Bob was the first American professional athlete to enlist in the military the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor in which he served 4 years upon the U.S.S.
