Description
Probably by Merriam Mfg. Company. Durham, Ct. - 1880's - 12" Long. From the Haradin Family Collection. This exquisite toy seems to hybridize elements from two different Connecticut toy makers. The wheels, the red iron framework and the brass bell are likely contributed by Gong Bell of East Hampton. While the tin horse and hoop-skirted girl are clearly the output of Merriam Mfg. of Durham. The assembly of these various parts was most likely carried out by the Merriam Company, who was also known to do toy assembly for the Connecticut based toy maker, George Brown.
