Ancient Greek bronze dolphin coin, artifact, proto-money, 1-3rd Century, in museum-style display case. Well defined artifact in fantastic condition. Found with metal detector. 28mm. Researchers of these coins assume that 10 "dolphins" were equal to 6 "arrows". Dolphins became the dominant Olvian proto-money. Archaeological studies show that there are a large number of these copecks in the Treasury of temples & wealthy Olviopolitics, with deposits of thousands being used until the end of IV century. BC, when the coins of the Milesian monetary system began to displace them.
