Biography: 1890 - 1967. Baroness Hilla Von Rebay was born in 1890 in Strasbourg, Alsace, France. Hilla Anna Rebay was a painter and confidant of Solomon Guggenheim. She painted his portrait and introduced him to Non-Objective art and artists.She was the first director of the museum resigning in 1952 due to poor health. Rebay sought out Frank Lloyd Wright to design the museum.Hilla Anna Rebay passed away in 1967.
