Description:
Bird's-eye view/map. 51.3x76.5 cm (20¼x30"), laid down on cloth backing.
Marvelous view of greater Los Angeles, with the San Gabriel Mountains at the top. A massive magnifying glass hovers over the city, showing Broadway, Spring and Main Streets and the tightly-packed buildings, described in the subtitle: "Topographical drawing by Charles H. Owens of the city and environs with photographic insert showing business section and the vast possibilities for expansion in all directions. Photographic insert by Lieut. George R. Pond." And expand they did. There are a number of drawings of sights and recreational activities around the edges of the view.
Condition
Old folds with splits and tears along them and elsewhere, repaired when mounted; trimmed at top edge affecting the newspaper heading; overall very good.
