Description
Grand Cross Set, 1st Model (1932). Sash Badge, gilt Silver, concave cross, beautifully made slightly rounded light blue enamel on both sides and laurel wreaths between the limbs. The medallion on the obverse with Romanian coat of arms, the reverse medallion with the inscription "Serviciu Credincios" (Loyal Service), hallmark and silver mark "41-43" and maker`s mark "HW", short sash. Breast star with crown above the medallion, silver enameled, maker`s mark "HW, Heinrich Weiss, Bucarest", hallmark "217-36, crown", on the reverse medium pin, together with awarding document dated 31st of May 1932, to Mr. I. Marincovici, President of the Ministers Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jugoslavia and to E. Benes, Minister of Foreign Affairs, future President of Czechoslovakia, original signature of King Carol II and of Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Ghika. The order was instituted by King Carol II on April, 29th 1932. It consists of three classes (Grand Cross, Grand Officer and Commander) and it was also intended to replace the two lower grades of the Carol I Order. In 1937 the collar and officer classes were added and the order was included among war decorations (thus awarded with swords). The order has a very high positionin the Romanian hierarchy of awards, being above the older national orders, the Star of Romania and the Crown of Romania.
