Description
Magician convention group photo & cast Iron "Houdini" cuffs (reproductions), "Second Annual Convention of The International Brotherhood of Magicians, June 8th, , 9th , 10th 1927, Kenton Ohio, The Greatest Gathering of Magicians in the History of the World", Frank Barbeau, Oswego, NY, Official I.B.M. Photographer, photo is 7.5" by 19.5", comes with pair cast iron "Plug 8 Cuffs" shackles with key, on these cuffs, Additional comments from the consignor of this lot "I have nothing specific on the Houdini Handcuffs, only family history that my grandfather, Henry (aka Henny) Gould (or maybe he was still using Goldstein) was one of Houdini's many assistants. My father was never big on specifics & my grandfather died when I was an infant. Here he is (I'm told - I only have photos of him as an older man) in a classic photo (see last photo on this listing) of Houdini doing his underwater box escape. My grandfather is the one with the mustache, in the dark suit & boater hat, behind Houdini."
To add a bit of family connection to the International Brotherhood of Magicians photo (just because I can)... Harry Blackstone, Sr. who is readily visible in the photo, was my father's godfather.
