As printing of the First Folios proceeded, proofs were read and corrections were made. The uncorrected sheets were not thrown out, but were mixed in with the corrected ones,so no two First Folios, of which there are 240 in existence, are identical. This edition reproduces pages from 29 of the most satisfactory copies, out of the 82 now in the Folger Shakespeare Library.
