A pair of Louis XVI style parcel gilt and patinated bronze figural chenets
after the models by Jacques Caffieri (1678-1755)

Modeled as a cat or dog seated on a cushion.

Footnote:
The playful design of these chenets is derived from the celebrated Rococo model by Jacques Caffieri. The originals were recorded in a 1755 inventory taken from Jacques Caffieris workshop. His son Philippe Caffieri supplied a pair of chenets featuring a cat and poodle, each raised on a Neoclassical stand with cushion, to reflect the style of the time, to the Prince de Conde in 1773.
