Description
Max Klepper (1861-1907) Watercolor painting Public Road Coach Liberty. Tag on verso reads: Run by James H. Hyde for 2 months in 1903 from the old Holland House, N.Y.C. to Laurel-in-the-Pines, Lakewood, N.J. Water color made from life by Klepper. From a set of 12. Klepper later made a larger set, using this set as models. Mr. Hyde gave the larger set, together with an original poster by Penfield, to the N.Y. Historical Society. Measures 12 1/4" x 7 7/8" (sight) and 16 1/4" x 11 3/4" w/ frame.
